What is Enriched Air (Nitrox)?

 

Basically, the tanks used for recreational divers are filled by compressor with the normal air we are  used to breathing on land. Enriched Air tank has filled with higher percentage oxygen, which means lower percentage nitrogen. Breathing lower levels of nitrogen reduces the ratio of nitrogen dissolving into your body and allows you to stay longer at certain depths

 

Any benefit to use Enriched Air(Nitrox)?

 

As we learned when Open Water diver course, every diver should control your diving time within “no stop time (no decompression limit)” to reduce the risks of decompression sickness(DCS). Especially repetitive diving in deep depth during a day, our body absorbs more nitrogen, making the next dive time shorter and shorter. But, diving with enriched air allow us extends our diving time to stay longer to explore interesting dive site.

 

Some really beautiful marine life takes a relatively long time to see, and it’s frustrating when you don’t get a chance to appreciate it before your dive computer warning indicates you need to ascend. For example, you might need Enriched Air certification to dive in Malapasgua to see thresher sharks, because you might need stay at bottom longer to wait for those beautiful creatures appear.

 

Enriched Air diver course will teach you more knowledge about decompression procedures, how to use an analyzer to check you enriched air tank, set you dive computer, either use dive table to know your depth and diving time.

 

Prerequisite Certification

PADI Open Water Diver or qualifying certification(PADI, SSI, SDI, CMAS, NAUI), or enrollment in the PADI Open Water Diver course and PADI Enriched Air Diver course concurrently

15 +

Course content

1. PADI Enriched Air Diver Manual, knowledge review, exam, predive simulation exercise.

2. Analyze tanks, set dive computer, plan dive time and depth, real dive with Enriched Air tanks
